Zoltán Martincsek

Violin / Hungary / Germany

Zoltán Martincsek was born in Budapest and began his violin lessons at the age of 6 under the guidance of his teacher, Dr. Andorné Bartos, a former student of Zathureczky. After attending music school, he continued his studies at the Béla Bartók Conservatory with Vera Czettner, completing his degree in 2003 at the Franz Liszt Music Academy.

During his conservatory studies, at the age of 15, he participated as a scholarship recipient in the Holzhausen Music Days at Lake Starnberg, upon the invitation of Professor Dénes Zsigmondy. In addition to his influential connection with Zsigmondy, he later studied with teachers such as Professor Ernő Sebestyén and Professor Henry Meyer.

Martincsek was a member of several chamber ensembles, performing concerts from 2000 to 2004 and recording with the Electroacoustic Research (EAR) Ensemble of the Hungarian Radio both nationally and internationally. From 2000 to 2009, he served as the first violinist of the “Budapest Strings” and from 2009 to 2011 as the leader of the Weiner-Szász Chamber Orchestra. As a chamber musician, he recorded for radio and CDs and received awards in international chamber music competitions.

Since 2011, he has been living in Germany. Until 2013, he worked as a violin lecturer at the University of Eichstätt. Additionally, he gave solo concerts and performed with chamber ensembles, including the Georgian Chamber Orchestra and the Chamber Academy Neuss. Since 2016, he has been a regular guest musician (principal second) with the Württemberg Chamber Orchestra and a member (first violin, concertmaster) of the Südwestdeutschen Chamber Orchestra.
