Uwe Kroggel

Uwe Kroggel, born in Dresden, received his first cello lessons at the age of nine. He began his education at the High School of Music and subsequently studied at the Carl Maria von Weber College of Music in Dresden with Günter Müller and chamber music with Rudolf Ulbrich from 1976 to 1980.

In 1978, while still a student, Uwe Kroggel was engaged as a substitute with the Staatskapelle Dresden.

Since 1980 he has been a permanent member of the Sächsische Staatskapelle and deputy principal cellist since 1993.

From 1978 to 1993 he was a member of the Dresden Krauss Quartet, performing extensively in Germany and abroad. His activities also comprise numerous live recordings for radio and television.

In addition, he has worked as a lecturer at the Giuseppe Sinopoli Academy, the orchestra academy of the Staatskapelle since 2011.
