Jessica Niggli
Violin / Switzerland
Jessica Niggli, born in Zürich, began to play the violin at the age of five and was taught by Therese Starck and Tsipora Comfort. In 1999 she changed to Nicolas Corti at the conservatory of Zürich. A few years later, in 2003 she began her studies at the “Musikhochschule Zürich” with Robert Zimansky. After the Matura, she began to study Anglistics at the University of Zürich and at the same time continued her violin studies in Bern with Detlef Hahn, where she finished her masters of pedagogy with distinction in 2008. Meanwhile she completed two further master studies at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London and Norwegian Academy of Music in Oslo. She attended several master classes (i.e with Midori Guto, Roy Malan, Dora Schwarzberg, Massimo Quarta, Charles Castleman, Alf Richard Kraggerud, Adelina Oprean, Bartek Niziol and Andrew Manze) and won several prizes at national and regional music competitions in Switzerland and Norway. Furthermore she performed at various recitals in Europe and the USA and had the opportunity to play a chamber music concert in the Tonhalle Zürich as first violinist of the “Iris” string quartet.
Ms. Niggli currently teaches at the “Musikschule Illnau-Effretikon”.
