Arthur Balogh

Double bass / Romania

Arthur Balogh began his musical studies at the age of six as a student at the “Ion Vidu” Music High School in Timișoara, specializing in piano. Concurrently pursuing higher education at the Music University in Bucharest, he took on the role of assistant in the jazz class and served as the double bassist for the national radio orchestra. Over seven years, Arthur Balogh gained recognition in Bucharest for his various double bass interpretation techniques, successfully blending elements of classical, traditional, modern, and experimental jazz.

As a double bassist, he was featured in various national and international jazz formations alongside artists such as Mircea Tiberian, Aura Urziceanu, Nicolas Simion, and many others. In 2007, he continued his studies at the University of Music in Nürnberg  under the guidance of Prof. Dorin Marc. After obtaining his diploma, Arthur Balogh became the double bassist for the Württemberg Chamber Orchestra Heilbronn. Since 2015, he has been a member of the Stuttgart Philharmonic, and from September 2023, Arthur Balogh teaches at the West University of Timișoara.

Arthur Balogh is a multiple competition award winner, and his passion for jazz, improvised music, and the classical double bass is evident in several recorded albums. His dedication to jazz and improvised music remains a constant in the artist’s life.
