Alina Kudelevic

Cello / Belarus / Switzerland

Alina Kudelevic was born in Minsk (Belarus), where she received her first cello lessons from Vladimir Perlin. She then graduated with honours from the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory before completing her studies with Martin Ostertag in Karlsruhe. She was awarded first prizes in several national and international competitions as well as the Ferenc Fricsay Scholarship of the German Symphony Orchestra Berlin, and was a grantee of the Villa Musica Mainz. For several years Alina Kudelevic played in renowned orchestras (including DSO Berlin, 3rd solo cellist with the Bochum Symphony Orchestra and 1st solo cellist of the Staatsorchester Rheinische Philharmonie).

In 2010 she was appointed principal cellist of the Zurich Symphony Orchestra, fulfilling this function to date. Alina Kudelevic is a founding member of the Rasumowsky Quartet with whom she has been performing internationally since 2001. In 2006 she recorded the complete string quartets of Dmitri Shostakovich for Oehms, in 2017 she produced the first recording of the string quartets composed by the Swiss Romantic composer Theodor Friedrich Fröhlich for cpo, and in 2022 the first recording of string quartets of Albert Meschinger for Naxos. Alina Kudelevic is a German-Swiss dual citizen and lives in Muri near Bern.
