Yotam Baruch was born in Tel Aviv, Israel. He played the cello in the “Israel Contemporary String Quartet” and belonged to the “Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra” as associate principal cellist. He made his Carnegie Hall debut in 2007 with pianist Efi Hackmey, and also performed at the “Terrace Theater” of the Kennedy Center, the “Phillips Collection” in Washington, DC and at “Symphony Space” in New York.

Yotam Baruch received his early musical education at the “Israeli Conservatory of Music” in Tel-Aviv, and at the “Thelma Yellin High School of the Arts” in Givatayim, Israel. At the age of eighteen, he received a position as cellist in the “Israel Defense Force Quartet” in the framework of his military service. He studied at Tel-Aviv University with Mikhail Khomitser and Hillel Zori, at the “Peabody Conservatory” in Baltimore with Amit Peled, and at Indiana University in the US, where he completed his doctorate under master cellist and teacher Janos Starker. Baruch participated at several festivals including “Music@Menlo”, “Musicorda”, “Santa-Fe Chamber Music Festival”, the “Perlman Music Programs Chamber Music Workshop (CMW)” ,”the “Voice of Music in the Upper Galilee Chamber Music Festival” and the “West-Eastern Divan Workshop” (WEDO), where he played under the baton of Maestro Daniel Barenboim. Yotam Baruch produced recordings for the “Voice of Music” radio channel in Israel and “WFIU Public Radio” at Indiana University. In the field of chamber music, he performed with the violinists Itzhak Perlman and Joshua Bell, clarinetist David Krakauer, cellists Laurence Lesser and Paul Katz, and singer Bobby McFerrin.

Between 1995 and 2005 Yotam Baruch held a scholarship and received instrument support from the “America-Israel Cultural Foundation”. He was awarded the first prize at both the 2005 “Baltimore Music Club” competition in Towson, Maryland in 2005 and the “Matinee Musicale” competition in Indianapolis in 2009. He received several grants from the “Jacobs School of Music” at the University of Indiana, including the prestigious “Eva Heinitz Cello Scholarship”. Recently he was honored with the “Hatfield Merit Award” by the “National Society of Arts and Letters”. Currently he is a member of the “Ben-Haim Piano Trio”. The musician lives in Germany and in Israel.
