Martin Masan

Violin / Switzerland / Poland

Martin Masan was born in Basel, Switzerland. In his early days he began learning the violin with Françoise Zoldy. Martin Masan graduated from the Musikhochschule Basel as well as the Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst Wien, where he received his master in performance under Prof. Günther Pichler (Alban Berg Quartet).

Masan took part in various master classes with distinguished musicians as I. Ozim, P. Amoyal, Z. Bron, M. Pressler, T. Brandis, R. Kussmaul, I. Gitlis and others.

Masan performed and recorded with numerous orchestras around the world, such as the Orkiestra Polskiego Radia, under T. Bugaj, Orquesta Nacional de Colombia, R. Milanov, Orquesta Sinfonica de Bolivar, G. Cespedes, Colombia, Orquesta di Bacau, O. Balan, and the TU Orchester, Wien, under S. Borisov.

Among his musical partners are Rachel Barton Pine (violin), Nora Romanoff Schwarzberg (viola) and Mihaela Ursuleasa (piano), Juan Diego Galindez-Gutierrez (piano) and Shahane Zurabova (piano).

In 2017 Martin Masan was appointed guest professor at the Universidad de Bellas Artes y Sciencias in Cartagena.

Uri also conducts his students’ orchestra and a choir in Milan where he lives.
