Uri Chameides

Violin / Italy, Israel

Uri Chameides born in 1953, started his musical education at the age of six and completed his violin studies with Vali Blotner and Ilona Feher in Isarel. As a youngster he was concertmaster for four years with the Givatayim Conservatory Orchestra, playing many solo concerts. For five consecutive years he won the Keren Sharet scholarship.

After the army service (completed as artillery captain), Uri Chameides moved to Italy where in 1979 he founded the Camerata Strumentale di Milano, a professional chamber orchestra, with which he performed approximately 400 concerts in eight years, as soloist and concertmaster , in the most important concert halls all over Italy. In 1988 Uri founded the Mediterranean Symphony Orchestra, touring as soloist and Concertmaster all over Europe until 1996.

Uri Chameides has always held his own violin and viola class in Milan. Some of his graduated students have become professional musicians. In 1987 he founded summer courses for young musicians which still take place annually in Piandelagotti, Province of Modena.

Uri also conducts his students’ orchestra and a choir in Milan where he lives.
